Electronic Filing Incentive
Section 10 of the America Invents Act established an additional fee of $400 ($200 for small entities) for each patent application not filed electronically. There has been no information released by the USPTO on whether this fee will also be reduced for micro entities. This electronic filing incentive was established by Congress in an effort to streamline the application process by cutting down the number of paper filings.
Upcoming Events/Key Dates
This electronic filing incentive went into effect on November 15, 2011, and was implemented by slight amendments to 37 C.F.R. §§ 1.16 and 1.445.
